The Saturday Vigil Mass will be recorded and made available in English and Spanish on Sunday morning for those who will not be able to attend. (The YouTube link will be posted on this website and on Facebook)

A general dispensation from the Sunday obligation will remain.
Many people, especially those who are at risk of possible infection or illness, and those who care for them, are strongly encouraged to stay home and participate by watching our online Mass. This also means that one can come to church for Mass on any day of the week (not just Sunday).  This will help to give people more of a chance to celebrate Mass in person at least once a week.
Dear Parishioners as a means to learn more about our faith and be inspired during these times our parish has purchased  FORMED for you.
Please take a look at the flyer or watch the video below to learn how to sign-up and take advantage of the many free programs available.

Dear members of St. John the Evangelist Parish: May the peace of the Lord be with us all during this time! Please see the latest announcement from Bishop Wack concerning our parish and diocese.  Fr. Dennis and I will still be available for anointing of the sick and will pastorally respond to any other concerns you and your family may have. There are many options for you during this time for live streaming masses and available daily.

When you cannot receive Communion and cannot attend Mass, you can make a spiritual communion, which is a most beneficial practice; by it the love of God will be greatly impressed on you. ” St. Teresa of Avila

When unable to attend Mass, we encourage you to make an act of “spiritual communion,” especially on Sundays. Saint Thomas Aquinas defined spiritual communion as “an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Holy Sacrament and a loving embrace as though we had already received Him.” You can use the following prayer from Saint Alphonsus Liguori to make a spiritual communion:
"My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least into my heart. I embrace You as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen."

Bishop Wack encourages all Catholics to “keep holy the Sabbath,” by reflecting on the Word of God and pray with the local Catholic community by virtual attendance at daily Mass and Sunday Mass, which can be streamed through the internet by visiting www.ptdiocese.org/livestreammass.
“We are all one in the Body of Christ. Let us pray for each other during this time of crisis and uncertainty. Please join me in praying for our brothers and sisters who are isolated or who are sick. We pray as well for the brave medical personnel and first responders, and all who are caring for the sick and quarantined. And let us not forget those who are lonely, afraid, depressed or anxious at this time,” said Bishop Wack.
